Transition of Domain Management for .MY Domains
Posted by Asrinah C. on 12 August 2024 11:13 PM

ATTENTION: Mynic Domain Owners

Dear Valued Customers,

To better align with industry standards and practices, MYNIC is moving to a full registry model. This means that starting August 19, 2024, the management of your domain name(s) will be fully handled by Shinjiru Technology Sdn Bhd, your current registrar. As a result, the MYNIC SELFCARE portal will no longer be available for managing your domain(s).

The transition details are as follows:
=====================================
Transition Date: 13th August 2024 – 18th August 2024
Transition Time: 22:00 (13th August) – 22:00 (18th August) GMT +8
=====================================

From that date on, please use Shinjiru Technology Sdn Bhd’s domain management system or billing system for all your domain-related tasks.

This transition is designed to streamline your experience and ensure you get the best possible service.

Until 13 August, 2024 at 10pm you can still manage your .MY domain name(s) through the MYNIC SELFCARE portal.

We greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Kind regards,
Team Shinjiru

Important Update: Extended Lifecycle Support for EOL Operating Systems
Posted by Noor Shafini S. on 29 July 2024 10:52 AM

ATTENTION: All Dedicated Server, VPS, Colocation Customers & Server Administrators/Owners using cPanel or Plesk control panels

Dear Valued Customers,

We are writing to inform you of an important update from cPanel and Plesk regarding the End-of-Life (EOL) support for EOL operating systems. These EOL operating systems will no longer receive security updates, potentially exposing them to security vulnerabilities.

To view the EOL date for your operating system, you may refer to the official page of each operating system or via online pages such as https://endoflife.date/

What Does This Mean for You?

Extended Support: The ELS provides critical security updates and fixes, ensuring your systems remain protected.

Transition Time: This extension offers additional time to plan and execute the migration to a newer, supported OS version without disrupting your services.

Recommended Actions: We strongly recommend starting the migration process as soon as possible. Our team is here to assist you with any questions or support you might need during this transition.

Monthly ELS Fee: Starting August 1, 2024, there will be an additional monthly ELS fee per qualifying license to cover the additional security updates. We are offering one month of free coverage for July 2024. This fee is subject to increase after six months (January 1, 2025). Licenses associated with supported operating systems will not incur additional ELS fees.

If you are running on any EOL operating system with either Plesk or cPanel, we encourage you to start planning your migration to a supported operating system as soon as possible. There are several excellent options available, and we’re happy to help you choose the one that best suits your needs.

If you have any questions or need assistance deciding on the best course of action, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team. We’re here to help!

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.

Kind regards,
Team Shinjiru

Hi Team,

We have reports that recently release upgrade by the MySQL, where the latest version (Ver 8.0.38) seems to not start. Unfortunately, MySQL also has not posted a changelog to indicate what has changed as well:
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/mysql/8.0/en/news-8-0-38.html

To minimize the downtime, we recommend downgrading the MySQL server to version 8.0.37. This downgrade is minor and shouldn't cause any compatibility issues.

Downgrade Command:
#yum downgrade mysql-community*

Please note that this is only a minor downgrade from version 8.0.38 to version 8.0.37, so there is no issue in performing this task.

We are also tracking this further on our end in case UPS-748.

It may also be best to disable upgrades for the MySQL server to prevent another update from bringing down the service again:

How to version lock RPM packages

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

Best regards,
Team Shinjiru

The LiteSpeed Plugin Vulnerability Affected 4 Million Websites

The popular LiteSpeed WordPress plugin recently addressed a serious vulnerability that left over 4 million websites at risk of compromise. The vulnerability, discovered by Wordfence, was a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability within the LiteSpeed plugin, which is widely used as a caching plugin for WordPress. XSS vulnerabilities exploit the lack of a security process called data sanitization and escaping, which filter the files that can be uploaded through legitimate inputs like contact forms. In the case of this vulnerability, the implementation of a shortcode functionality allowed hackers to upload malicious scripts by bypassing the necessary security protocols.

However, Search Engine Journal points out that this specific vulnerability requires the hacker to obtain contributor-level permissions, making it more complex than other unauthenticated threats. To mitigate this risk, LiteSpeed Cache users should update their plugin to version 5.7 or higher, which was released on October 10, 2023. It is crucial for website owners to take action promptly to protect their sites from potential exploitation.
